Hebden Bridge Arts Festival is coming to Mytholmroyd

MYTHOLMROYD'S FULL OF ARTS IDEAS!

Ideas for arts events in Mytholmroyd came thick and fast at an Open Meeting organised in the village by Hebden Bridge Arts Festival on Thursday 20 November. Next Summer, Mytholmroyd is on its way to having its biggest share of Arts Festival events ever!

Proposals at the meeting included a concert featuring local bands as a last night of the festival event. Another suggestion was for an exhibition in the village featuring the work of Mytholmroyd visual artists. There were plans for Digital Arts linking up with Poetry and Community Writing. Talking of Poetry, the idea of a performance of work by Sylvia Plath and Mytholmroyd son Ted Hughes was outlined. This will coincide with a film about Sylvia Plath that is due to be released in 2004.

On top of all this, Graham Packham, one of the Arts Festival's Directors told the meeting that the Arts Festival wanted a major performance that will be touring from India to be staged in Mytholmroyd next year. And if that isn't enough, other ideas have been sent to the festival by people who weren't able to get to the meeting.

If you've got any more ideas for Arts events in Mytholmroyd that can take place between 19 June and 4 July 2004, or are able to help with organising and stewarding events, looking after visiting artists, publicity etc., contact the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival on (01422) 842684 or e-mail Hebden Bridge Arts Festival
