Royal Oak Open Day Saturday 12th March 2005
The former Royal Oak Pub, an eyesore to the entrance of Mytholmroyd for many years has been reprieved by local builder, Paul Ansell of Brier Hey Lane, Mytholmroyd, and is now 5 apartments on 2 floors. The apartments have balconies or a courtyard. The stable is now a two bedroom house with veranda and occupied. Where possible original features have been saved such as the old staircase and beams.
The builders are having an open day this coming Saturday 12th March when people are invited to look around from 10.00 to 2.00.
All the apartments and the stable will be rented. The properties will soon be advertised by Francine Turner. 90% of the work is done so it won't be very long now. So go along and take a peep on Saturday. This can only be a vast improvement to the gateway to Mytholmroyd and, by all accounts, will be well worth the visit.
The previous feature on the Mytholmroyd.net when the builders began the restoration, with photos, in March 2003, is here: Royal Oak Feature
